Pricing Information

At Sarah Brown Charity Law WS, we are committed to transparency and clarity in our pricing. We understand that legal costs can be a concern, and we aim to provide straightforward information to help you make informed choices about our services.

Hourly Rate

Most of our work is carried out on a time-spent basis. Our current hourly charge-out rate is:

£230 + VAT

Where possible will always seek to provide an estimate for work at the outset, tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

When you contact us, as part of our initial inquiry process, we will ask the right questions and seek sight of the necessary documentation to ensure our estimate is as accurate as possible. We will also set out clearly from the outset the work involved and what you can expect.

Indicative Costs for Popular Services

While each matter is unique, the following is indicative pricing for some of our most frequently requested services:

  • Setting Up a New Charity
    Typically from £1,700 + VAT
  • Bespoke Charity Law Roles and Responsibilities Training (90-minute session)
    Typically from £690 + VAT
  • Changing an Existing Charity to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO)
    Typically from £2,500 + VAT
  • Governing Document Review and Update
    Typically from £900 + VAT
  • Charity Reorganisation Scheme
    Typically from £800 + VAT
  • Charity Wind-Up and Dissolution
    Typically from £1,500 + VAT

These prices are based on typical straightforward cases and is for guidance only and is not definitive as to what you will pay when instructing the firm, as each matter may have a number of variables. Please contact us for the specific and detailed estimate, as well as discussing the work to be done and any other preliminary matters. 

VAT

Please note that VAT is payable on all our fees at the prevailing rate.

Tailored Estimates

We understand that every charity is different. If you would like a tailored estimate for your specific requirements, please get in touch — we’re happy to discuss your needs and provide a clear outline of potential costs.

Where clients require more than one service, we will also consider economies of scale when preparing our estimate.

Anti-Money Laundering (AML) fee

Please note that depending on the nature of the work instructed an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) fee may apply. This fee is required to cover compliance costs associated with legal and regulatory obligations designed to prevent financial crime.

The AML fee, if applicable, will be clearly outlined in your agreement and included in your estimate.
