The JPC O’Rafferty Charitable Trust (SCIO) is a Scottish Charity registered under Scottish charity number SC052898.

Background

The JPC O’Rafferty Charitable Trust (SCIO) was founded by the late John O’Rafferty in memory of his late wife, Phyllis, and his late daughter Claire, who sadly died in childhood (hence ‘JPC’ in the name). John O’Rafferty passed away in 2023.

John and Phyllis O’Rafferty dedicated their lives to helping others, and the charity proudly continues their legacy by supporting their community, empowering individuals, and creating opportunities for those in need in their local area.


The charity’s purpose is to provide grants and donations to:

(i) individuals who reside in, and

(ii) community groups, charities and voluntary bodies that are based in, or operate within,

the areas of Blairgowrie, Rattray, Alyth and Coupar Angus including those supporting children and special needs groups (but excluding commercial or business-related projects) for the following purposes:


a) The prevention or relief of poverty
b) The advancement of education
c) The advancement of health
d) The saving of lives
e) The advancement of citizenship or community development
f) The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science
g) The public participation in sport
h) The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational facilities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended
i) The promotion of equality and diversity
j) The advancement of environmental protection or improvement
k) The relief of those in need

Applying for a Grant

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for funding, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria. The Trustees may request additional information to verify eligibility.

Individuals

  • Reside within one of the following areas: Blairgowrie, Rattray, Alyth or Coupar Angus.
  • Demonstrate that the funding requested will support one or more of the Trust’s charitable purposes listed above.

Organisations

  • Be based in, or operate within, Blairgowrie, Rattray, Alyth or Coupar Angus.
  • Support activities that align with the Trust’s charitable purposes.
  • Not be commercial or profit‑making enterprises (business‑related projects are not eligible).

Decision Timings

The JPC O’Rafferty Charitable Trust (SCIO) is now accepting applications for funding, with a submission deadline of 30th April 2026. Applicants will then be contacted by email.
